Bristol Boxer, Glenn Catley dropped in to see his old friend Alex.  Staff and customers were dazzled when quite unannounced he produced his World Title Belt for all to see.  It was quite something and something he was obviously very happy to show off.  One of my customers (you know who you are) shamelessly asked him to take his top off, to which he politely refused!!!!!!!!

Alex now has his signed picture of Glenn (top off) in pride of place on the Monte Carlo wall.  Go on Glenn!!!!

We are still in the running for the South West Local Food Hero 2009!!  Michelin starred celebrity chef Matt Tebutt visited us with his television crew on 3rd October to film the next stage of the competion. Matt along with his Producer and Camera Man, spent the day filming Alex, Anna and I (Sam) along with all the regular day to day activities at the Monte.  Quite alot of you were filmed and we hope this will be filmed sometime at the end of this month.   Matt tucked into a Monte Breakfast Special that you are all familiar with added Chilli sausages that Manor Farm in Upton Cheyney kindly produced for us! The programme is Market Kitchen and it is aired on the Good Food Channel throughout the day.  Look out for it and see if you can spot yourselves on it.  We are not sure how we find out the result of the competion.  Maybe we will have to wait .like everyone else for the result to be announced when the show goes out.

We thoroughly enjoyed entertaining our celebrity guests and think that we made a lasting impression!  They have certainly never met anyone quite like resident war veteran Mervyn Clutterbuck before!!

Hi Everyone...We have kindly been nominated again in this years Awards.   We came in the top 20 in the UK last year and are hoping to better that this year.  Thank you to everyone who has voted for us so far and we are hoping to hear soon if we have made it into the running this year.

The prize if successful is lots of TV coverage on Market Kitchen and £5,000 prize money which we would love to go towards a new COFFEE MACHINE and a deli counter!!!!  Those of you who are regulars know that our old dinosaur steamer is good, but with the progression of the coffee market - we really need to catch up!!
